How we score flooring contractors in Klang Valley
What this page covers
The Klang Valley Flooring Contractor Guide currently scores 124 flooring contractor businesses across the area. This page explains, in plain terms, how that composite score (0-100) is built, why each ingredient is there, and where the method falls short. Nothing here is decorative. If a number appears on a listing, it came from the rubric below.
The five signals, heaviest first
Every business gets a score out of 100 built from five measured signals. Each one is weighted differently because some tell you more about whether a contractor will actually do a good job on your floor than others.
- Sentiment, 28%. This is a synthesis of what recent reviews actually say, the praise and the complaints, not just the star count attached to them. It carries the most weight in the whole score, and there's a reason for that below.
- Rating, 26%. The Google aggregate star rating. A useful baseline, but stars alone can't tell you what customers were happy or unhappy about.
- Volume, 20%. How many reviews a business has, log-scaled so a contractor with 300 reviews isn't automatically outscored by one with 8 glowing ones, but also so a handful of reviews doesn't get treated as equal to hundreds.
- Recency, 9%. How recently customers have left reviews. A flooring contractor that hasn't been reviewed in three years tells you less about their current crew, materials, or pricing than one reviewed last month.
- Completeness, 17%. Whether basic business information, phone, website, hours, and address, is actually listed and findable. A contractor who's easy to reach and shows up correctly is one less headache before work even starts.
Why sentiment carries the most weight
A star average hides patterns. Two flooring contractors can sit at exactly the same 4.3 stars while one has scattered minor gripes and the other has the same complaint showing up review after review, botched skirting, missed appointments, subpar SPC installation, whatever it is. The average number won't show you that. Reading what recent reviews actually describe is the only way to catch a pattern before it becomes your problem. That's why sentiment is weighted above the raw rating itself, not instead of it.
Where the score has limits
A composite score is only as good as the data behind it, and we're upfront about the gaps. Businesses with few recent reviews produce a low-confidence score, and those listings are labelled as such. Treat a low-confidence score as a starting point for your own questions to the contractor, not a verdict. We also don't republish reviews wholesale: we synthesise themes from them and link out to Google so you can read the original source yourself and form your own view.
Scores are earned, not edited
Every score on this directory comes from the rubric above applied to published reviews and public business information. Nothing else moves the number. Where paid placement exists on this site, it is always labelled clearly, and it never changes a business's score. Separately, if any list on this site (such as our vinyl and SPC flooring picks) has picks or ordering that involved editorial judgment rather than the rubric alone, that involvement is disclosed on that page itself.
Who publishes this and who's behind it
This directory is published by MY Homee Guides. The founder, Adam, spent ten years working in the Klang Valley home service industry before starting the guide, and that hands-on background shaped a simple goal: give homeowners straightforward, honest ratings so they can find a reliable flooring contractor without having to guess or dig through pages of reviews themselves. The directory is built from published reviews and public business listings, and rankings are earned on merit rather than bought.
Adam, as Managing Editor, maintains editorial oversight of these rankings. Data across the guide refreshes monthly, and individual listings carry a "last verified" stamp so you can see the maintenance is active, not a one-time snapshot from years ago.
You can reach the publisher at hi@myhomee.my or visit myhomee.my for more on MY Homee Guides. To browse scored listings, head back to the directory home page.
FAQ
- How often is the flooring contractor data updated?
- The full directory refreshes monthly. Each listing also carries a last verified stamp so you can see when it was last checked, rather than relying on a single snapshot.
- Why do some contractors show a low-confidence score?
- A score built from very few recent reviews doesn't carry much statistical weight. We label those listings as low-confidence so you know to treat the number as a starting point rather than a settled verdict.
- Does paying for placement improve a contractor's score?
- No. Paid placement, where it exists on this site, is always labelled and never affects the score. Scores come only from the rubric applied to reviews and public business information.
- Where can I read the actual reviews behind a score?
- We synthesise review themes rather than republish reviews in full, and each listing links out to the Google source so you can read what customers wrote yourself.
