What are rectified tiles?

Rectified tiles are factory-processed tiles with precisely cut, uniform edges that allow for minimal grout spacing and a nearly seamless appearance when installed.

Rectified tiles undergo a precision-cutting process at the factory to square off their edges to exact dimensions. This differs from pressed or non-rectified tiles, which arrive from the kiln with slightly rounded or uneven edges and natural size variation from piece to piece.

Because rectified tiles have uniform dimensions, installers can set them with grout lines as narrow as 1-2 millimeters. Non-rectified tiles typically require grout joints of 3-5 millimeters or wider to accommodate edge irregularities and expansion. This narrower grout spacing gives rectified tiles a cleaner, more monolithic appearance that many homeowners and builders prefer in contemporary interiors.

Rectified tiles are usually made from porcelain or ceramic and come in various sizes and finishes. They cost more than non-rectified alternatives due to the extra cutting and quality-control steps involved. The trade-off is aesthetic consistency and a floor surface that reads as nearly seamless rather than distinctly grid-like.

When selecting rectified tiles for Klang Valley projects, contractors should verify edge squareness and check sample installations with the specific grout color and width planned for the job, since the minimal joint approach shows any inconsistency more readily than traditional wider grout lines.

Flooring specialists and tile suppliers in the region stock both rectified and non-rectified options. For guidance on sourcing and installation, consult tile and marble flooring providers in your area.
